Important Note: Battery Main Switch

Battery Switch Off to Disable Bike on Standby: A Safety Notice for Dirodi E-Bike Owners

At Dirodi, your safety and the longevity of your e-bike are our top priorities. We’re reaching out to address an important safety issue that has come to our attention, which involves the multi-cable component in your e-bike. To ensure your bike remains in optimal condition and prevent potential part failures.

'Please ensure your battery main switch is OFF when bike is not in use and when charging'

The Issue: Multi-Cable Overheating

We have identified that leaving the battery inserted in the bike while the battery main switch is left on for extended periods, or charging the battery while it remains inserted into the bike, can lead to overheating of the multi-cable system. This overheating may cause the cables to melt, potentially damaging your e-bike and posing a safety risk.

The Solution: Battery Switch Off

To avoid this issue, please follow these steps:

Switch Off the Battery When Not in Use

If your e-bike will not be in use for more than 30 minutes, ensure the battery main switch is turned off. This simple step prevents unnecessary power flow through the system, reducing the risk of the multi-cable overheating.

Apply these instructions also to: Front light multi switch

If you own the Dirodi Rover with newer front light multi light switch, it is also a good idea to reset the switches to the off position when not in use to avoid unwanted heat build up. If you own a Dirodi Generation 1 - 4, then the lights are integrated to the single handlebar displauyu control pad in which just refer to switching the main battery switch off for when not in use.

Charge the Battery Safely

If you choose to charge the battery while it is still inserted into the bike, make sure the battery switch is turned off before connecting the charger. This prevents the battery from discharging any power over periods of the charge cycle.

Remove the Battery for Extended Storage

For added safety, especially if you won’t be using your e-bike for an extended period (e.g., several weeks or more), we recommend removing the battery entirely and storing it in a cool, dry place.

Why This Matters

By following these instructions, you’ll not only protect your e-bike from potential damage but also ensure a safer riding experience for yourself and others. The multi-cable system is a critical component of your e-bike, and taking these precautions will help maintain its longevity and potentially saving you time and money.
