DiroDi's 48V pack spans two very different frames, so choose based on how you actually ride rather than the battery alone. After stability on gravel, sand or mixed terrain? Our fat tyre e-bikes carry the same pack in a sturdier build. Want an easy, upright, hop-on-hop-off ride instead? How to choose your 48V bike

Motor and power:

For public-road riding, choose a compliant 250 W pedal-assist configuration with motor assistance cutting out at 25 km/h, and check your state's requirements. Battery voltage alone does not determine road legality. That's paired with a genuine 60 Nm of torque, more than enough to smooth out hills and push back against a headwind. A higher-powered off-road model does not become road-legal simply by selecting a lower assist setting.

Battery and range:

Riders typically see around 80 km from a charge day to day, with a maximum of 125 km achievable in the right conditions, your own figure will shift with body weight, terrain and assist level. Charging from empty takes roughly 10 hours off a household power point, so plan charging while you are awake and at home, and disconnect the charger when charging is complete.

Frame and fit:

The 48V tier spans two frame families. Fat tyre models trade a touch of weight for stability across gravel, sand and mixed terrain, while step-through models prioritise an easy, upright, hop-on-hop-off ride for street and path riding. Either way, your posture stays relaxed over a full commute or a longer weekend loop.

Essential urban security and safety

Suit up before you roll out, whether it's a city commute or a trail loop. Grab a properly certified helmet from our e-bike helmets range for the speeds a pedal-assist motor gets you to, and chain your bike up with one of our e-bike locks any time you leave it at the office, the station or the cafe. Thread the lock through the frame and a wheel rather than just the front tyre, so it's far harder for anyone to walk off with it. A light shower on the way home won't bother these bikes, but heavy rain and deep puddles are best avoided altogether.

What does 48V actually mean for an electric bike?

48V refers to the battery's voltage, not its power output. It's DiroDi's everyday middle tier, sitting between our entry-level 36V packs and the higher-capacity 52V and 60V packs fitted to our performance models.

How far can I ride on a single charge?

Most riders get around 80 km per charge in everyday use, with up to 125 km possible on our 48V Rover. Body weight, hills and how hard you lean on the pedal assist all shift that figure up or down.

Is a 48V electric bike legal to ride on public roads and paths?

A compliant 250 W pedal-assist configuration with assistance cutting out at 25 km/h can be used on public roads subject to your state's bike, rider and access requirements. Fat tyre models are the sturdier option, built for gravel, sand and mixed terrain at the cost of a little extra weight. Step-through models keep things light and easy to hop on and off, suited to street and path riding around town.

Will a 48V battery suit a longer weekend ride?

For most typical weekend distances, yes. If you're planning a genuinely long, hilly or throttle-heavy day out, compared against our 52V and 60V tiers.
