How to choose your 52V bike

Three things decide how a 52V bike will suit you: the motor, the battery and the frame.

Motor and power

For public-road riding, choose a compliant 250 W pedal-assist configuration with motor assistance cutting out at 25 km/h, and check your state's requirements. Battery voltage alone does not determine road legality, and higher-power versions are intended for private property use. Still unsure which configuration fits your riding? Battery and range

The Rover Gen 6 and Rover Pro carry a 52V 20Ah pack (about 1040 Wh) on their 500W and 1000W versions, and the Vivo Gen 2 runs 52V with a 15Ah or 20Ah pack. Real-world range depends on assist level, terrain, rider weight and wind. A full recharge takes around 7 to 10 hours, and every battery is removable for charging indoors.

Frame and fit

Choose the Rover Gen 6 or Rover Pro for a fat tyre, step-through frame with a long seat, or the Vivo for a lighter feel. Big batteries add weight, so check each product page and think about where the bike will live. Sizing questions? Call us or visit our Cheltenham showroom.

Essential security and safety

A well-fitted helmet is legally required in Australia, so start with our e-bike helmets. Add lights for dawn and dusk and bright clothing so drivers see you early. When you stop, secure the bike to something solid with one of our e-bike locks, and take the battery inside if you can. Light-to-moderate rain will not bother these bikes, but they are not waterproof.

52V electric bike FAQs

Is a 52V e-bike better than a 48V e-bike?

Not always, it depends on how you ride. A 52V pack gives stronger torque and more stored energy, which suits hills, heavier loads and long days. A 48V bike is lighter on the wallet and is plenty for everyday commuting.

Which DiroDi bikes are 52V?

The Rover Gen 6 and Rover Pro use a 52V pack on their 500W and 1000W versions, and the Vivo Gen 2 runs 52V. Check the specifications tab on each product page for the exact battery fitted to each version.

Is a 52V electric bike legal on public roads?

Battery voltage alone does not decide road legality. A compliant 250 W pedal-assist configuration with assistance cutting out at 25 km/h can be ridden on public roads, subject to your state's rules. Higher-power versions are intended for private property use.

How far can a 52V e-bike go on one charge?

The Rover Gen 6 and Rover Pro are rated up to 125 km of maximum range, with around 80 km a typical average. Your real range depends on assist level, hills, wind and rider weight.

Can I add a second battery?

Yes, on the Rover Gen 6 and Rover Pro. Our 52V Dual Battery Kit adds an external 20Ah battery that runs alongside the main pack.

Can I ride my e-bike in the rain?

Yes, in light-to-moderate rain. DiroDi e-bikes are water-resistant, not waterproof, so avoid deep water, never hose the motor or battery, and dry the bike off after a wet ride.
