Quality, Style, Reliability – I ditched my car for this bike after doing some homework. Needed something that could handle a passenger on the back. Been using it for the past 14 months to drop my kid at school and then zip about 12 km to work. This bike’s been a game-changer for me. Mornings are way more fun now. I pedal a bit harder on my way to work to get some exercise in, and then take it easy with more pedal assist on the way back. The bike’s been super reliable too. Only had a bolt go missing once, but DiroDi sorted it out fast, and just one flat tyre.

FAQ

The standard DiroDi Rover gen 4 comes with rigid forks (no suspension) and a 48V 15.6AH battery. The DiroDi Rover Plus gen 4 comes with front suspension forks and a 48V 17.4AH battery, which is 11% larger than the battery on the standard Rover

The standard DiroDi Rover gen 5 comes with rigid forks (no suspension) and a 52V 20AH battery. The DiroDi Rover Plus gen 5 comes with front suspension forks and a 52V 20AH battery

Whether you need front suspension forks depends largely on the type of riding you'll be doing. Front suspension forks can be very beneficial if you plan to ride on rough terrain, such as gravel paths, trails, or over obstacles, as they improve comfort and control by absorbing shocks and bumps. They can also reduce rider fatigue and maintain better traction by keeping the front wheel grounded.

However, if you're primarily riding on smooth, paved roads, rigid forks might suffice. They provide a more direct transfer of power and are lighter, making for an efficient and responsive ride.

Moreover, the correct tyre pressure is also crucial. Fat tyres that are properly inflated can act as a natural suspension system. For the DiroDi Rover, it is recommended to maintain the tyre pressure at or below 20 PSI. At this pressure, the fat tyres can somewhat absorb the roughness of uneven terrains, and thus providing a smoother and more comfortable ride.

At DiroDi, we understand that shipping costs can be a hassle. That’s why we offer FREE shipping on all our products! The price you see is the final price you pay.

No licence is needed if your ebike complies with Australian road legality standards.

Generally, yes. While the tyre type isn't the only factor determining a bike's maximum load, fat tyre bikes can typically carry 20 to 30 percent more weight than standard road bikes. They often come with wider rims, stronger forks, and frames. A heavier rider would likely feel safer on a bike with a steadier grip and more tyre surface in contact with the ground.

We offer a 2-year warranty against manufacturing faults on e bike frames and a 1-year warranty on electronic and all other parts. For e-scooters, there’s a 1-year warranty on all parts. An extended 2-year warranty on electric parts is available for an additional cost of $100 per bike. If you would like to purchase the extended warranty, please contact us after placing your order.

When it comes to choosing a bike frame type, there are a few factors to consider. Step-over and step-through frames are the two main options, each with their own advantages and considerations.

Step-over frames:

Step-over frames are the traditional choice and are characterized by a top tube that runs from the handlebars to the seat post. It is believed that step-over frames are lighter and more rigid, making them ideal for riders who prioritize speed and performance. However, due to advancements in frame technology, many step-through frames are now just as light and provide comparable strength. Therefore, the advantages of step-over frames are no longer as significant as they once were.

Step-through frames:

Step-through frames, on the other hand, offer more practicality and ease of use. With a step-through frame, you can get on and off the bike without having to lift your leg over the top tube. This convenience is especially beneficial for riders who prioritize practicality over the aesthetics of the bike. Step-through frames are also better suited for shorter riders, as the top tube of a step-over frame may make it difficult for them to stand over it comfortably.

If a bike is going to be shared among family members with different genders and heights, a step-through frame is recommended. Additionally, if you plan on carrying a surfboard on your bike, a step-through frame is better since you won't have to step over the frame and the surfboard rack each time you want to get on or off the bike.

However, it's important to note that some customers prefer the look of a step-over bike. Furthermore, a top tube can be useful if you need to mount a child seat at the front or carry cargo, or if you want to attach various accessories to the frame.

A few years ago, 70% of our customers preferred the step over frame and 30% preferred the step through frame. Now the trend has changed towards the step through frame, with 60% of our customers choosing it and 40% going with the step over frame.

It's up to you to decide which frame type is best for your needs or looks more appealing to you. However, if you can't decide, we would suggest going with the step through frame.

Our ebikes and scooters are water-resistant but not submersible. Avoid using pressure hoses or jet power washers when cleaning.

No, e-bikes are not gender-specific. Frame type preferences depend on individual needs and tastes. When choosing an e-bike, there are a few factors to consider.

Firstly, you need to ensure the bike is the right size for you. All DiroDi bikes have a sizing guideline on their product page. To determine the correct size, you should check the saddle height at the minimum position (to ensure the bike is not too large for you) and the saddle height at the maximum position (to ensure the bike is not too small for you). You can measure your leg length or if you have access to another bike, compare the saddle height and see if it feels comfortable for you.

Another thing to consider is the stand-over height, especially for step-over frame bikes. Stand-over height is the distance between the top tube of the bike frame and your crotch when you straddle the bike. Measure your inseam length and ensure that the stand-over height allows for comfortable clearance.

Wheel width is another aspect to consider. Typically, bikes with narrower wheels are suitable for paved roads, while bikes with wider wheels are suitable for more diverse terrain. However, with electric bikes, the motor compensates for the extra resistance of wider tyres, making the difference in performance less noticeable. Additionally, wider tyres can provide a more comfortable ride as the tire acts as a natural suspension.

Lastly, you may need to decide on the frame type: step-over or step-through. With advancements in frame technology, both frame types provide similar strength and weight. However, step-through frames are generally considered more practical as they are easier to get on and off the bike. They are also suitable for shorter riders as the low top tube makes it easy to mount and dismount. Step-through frames are also convenient for mounting surfboard racks or carrying surfboards. However, some customers may prefer the look of a step-over frame, and having a top tube can be useful for installing a child seat or carrying cargo.

Overall, when choosing an e-bike, it is important to consider your individual needs, preferences, and the specific features of the bike to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable riding experience.
